🎉 **Botetourt Kindergarteners** are loving storytime with Ms. Miller as she reads their HMH stories aloud. Listening to stories ignites their imagination!

The October 8,2024 School Board Meeting is a testament to the school board's commitment to academic achievement and a vibrant district culture that celebrates student and staff success.
At approximately 8:50 this morning, Gloucester High School was evacuated due to a gas leak detected on the roof. Our priority was the safety of all students and staff. Fire and life safety teams responded immediately, and parents and students were promptly notified via email and text by 8:55.
Students remained safe outside while we awaited confirmation from the fire department. At approximately 9:28 am, the building was declared safe, and everyone was allowed to reenter.
We are incredibly grateful for the calm cooperation of our students and staff, and for the swift, professional response from the fire department and the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office.
Thank you for your continued support as we ensure the safety of our school community.
Operations have now resumed as normal.

✨ **1st Grade Math**: Our little learners are exploring ABB patterns using colorful manipulatives. It's a fun way to grasp essential math concepts!
✨ **2nd Grade Science**: Mrs. Kipper's class is having a blast mixing vinegar and baking soda! They're not just creating gas; they’re also observing the fascinating dance of raisins as they learn about the three states of matter.
✨ **Oobleck Fun**: Students are discovering the unique properties of matter by making Oobleck—a fun experiment that showcases the solid and liquid states!
✨ **Food Web Exploration**: In a dynamic discussion, students are creating food webs and learning how energy travels through them, along with the potential problems that can arise from disruptions.
✨ **4th Grade Experiments**: Our 4th graders are conducting hands-on experiments, collecting data, and graphing their findings. It's all about making science come alive!

Due to the heat advisory, GCPS will take appropriate precautions for all outdoor activities on Thursday, August 29, 2024. Precautions may include cancellation, moving activities inside, providing frequent breaks, and opportunities for hydration.
Gloucester County Government is excited to partner with Gloucester County Public Schools Virginia, Rappahannock Community College, and the Hampton Roads Workforce Council to provide enhanced workforce opportunities for Gloucester High School students!
Such opportunities will include training/certifications in the areas of Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Electrical/HVAC, Maritime Electrical, and much more! We want to provide the opportunities necessary to keep our students in the local workforce!
