🎉GCPS finished the last school day before spring break engaging students in great learning experiences! 🎉 Here are just a few highlights from our day: Achilles Warriors were so excited to call their families after they found out from principal Ms. Andrews that they earned a positive office referral. Abingdon Elementary love Building Thinking Classrooms! It makes math so much fun!   At Bethel Elementary, students were engaged and having fun with STEM activities as they collaborated with their friends. Botetourt Bulldogs were excited to hear their classmates in Ms. Roadys 3rd grade class presenting their autobiographies they’ve written using Google docs Petsworth Elementary's 2nd grade students in Mrs. Slater's and Ms. Walton's classes listening to a presentation from the Virginia Living Museum. They saw a box turtle named Forest.  At Page Middle School, even though all are excited about the break, Mrs. Scalf is ensuring that students are working to learn a new Latin arrangement. Peasley 6th graders did a fantastic job of preparing for and presenting at their Cultural Awareness Fair. GHS students learned about different cultures today at the World Language Fair. Ms. Ballew taught students about lederhausen and the Schuhplattler dance. Ms. Pelfry helped students learn some salsa dance moves. Thank you to everyone for making GCPS a great place for students! ☀️Have a wonderful Spring Break!☀️

On Wednesday, March 13, all GCPS 3rd grade students took a trip to TC Walker Education Center to attend the Virginia Repertory Theatre production of Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad. The production was the final one in the series for the theatre troop, which they were very excited to perform at the TC Walker Education Center. The students were wonderfully engaged audience participants and were on the edges of their seats during the production. At the end of the production, students asked insightful questions about Harriet Tubman’s life and how this production impacted each member of the theatre troop. GCPS would like to thank Concerts by the Bay for providing the financial support to bring this production to our students by way of funding they received through the Gloucester Community Foundation.
