As a follow-up to the August announcement of the Virginia Board of Education’s adoption of the new accountability model, the School Performance and Support Framework, the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) will release information about preliminary ratings for schools under the new model using data collected during the 2023-2024 academic year on Thursday, November 7, 2024. This information will be available on the VDOE website alongside an Implementation Toolkit for school leaders and resources for family or community members to support children and schools.
While the revised framework will be fully implemented at the end of the 2024-25 school year, this snapshot illustrates how schools will be identified as either models of best practice or on-track to meet state expectations for growth, achievement, and readiness.
The preliminary calculations from the Virginia Department of Education indicate that all Gloucester schools are categorized as On Track or above, meeting or exceeding state expectations.
The performance of Gloucester students reflects the ongoing commitment of students, parents, teachers, staff, and the community during the previous school year. We are proud of our students’ achievements and will continue the work collaboratively to meet and exceed state expectations for instructional growth, academic achievement, and post-graduation readiness for all students.
Sincerely,
Dr. Anthony Vladu
District Superintendent
