Dear Parents
On Wednesday, January 10, 2024, the Gloucester County Public Schools met for its annual organizational meeting. Third grader, Kate Hunter from Botetourt Elementary led the School Board in the Pledge of Allegiance. During the meeting, the School Board recognized Gloucester High School Senior of the Month, Oksana Oshidar. The January Community Volunteer of the Month, Ms. Veronica Jenkins, was also recognized for devoting over 200 hours to planning and putting on PTA events such as book fairs, Picture Day, and Open House.
Students from Botetourt Elementary shared the production of daily news and other print media. Presenters demonstrated the impact of teamwork, feedback, organizational skills, live streaming, print media, and podcasting.
Congratulations to Mr. Troy Anderson for being selected as the 2024-25 School Board Chair. We also congratulate Ms. Leonne Arsenovic for being elected School Board Vice Chair.

As I just completed my fifth month on the job, a special thank you goes out to the more than 1600 GCPS employees, students, parents, and community members who provided feedback to me as part of the Superintendent’s Entry Plan. I truly appreciate your recognition of division achievements while balancing the need to improve outcomes for GCPS employees, students and their parents. Your feedback will be used to shape the work that lies ahead. I would also like to share some important dates.
- Monday, January 15 - All schools and offices are closed in honor of the Martin Luther King Holiday.
- Friday, January 19 - is the end of the 1st Semester.
- Monday, January 22, and Tuesday, January 23, are professional days for staff with no students reporting.
- Wednesday, January 24, is the first day of the 2nd Semester.
