The open meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Thomas Calhoun Walker Education Center Auditorium (Preceded by a Closed Meeting at 5:30 p.m.in Rm. A130).
Prior to the meeting, there will be an opportunity for public viewing of the potential Science textbook options. Please see the information below:
At the January, 2023, School Board meeting, the GCPS School Board approved the division moving forward with the process of selecting new Science textbooks for K-8, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. A panel of 9 teachers who worked as the Adoption Committee to review all of the textbook series that VDOE has indicated align with the 2018 standards. Based on this review, the selected samples will be on display for public review and comments before the May 9 School Board Meeting from 4:30-6:00 pm and on May 23 from 4:30-6:00 pm in the lobby of the TC Walker Education Center Auditorium. After reviewing the textbook and any additional components, each public reviewer will be able to complete a survey to indicate his or her choice for potential adoption.
